Brooklands, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire
Brooklands is a major new urban extension on the eastern edge of Milton Keynes, comprising 2,000 homes and other mixed use development.
We were commissioned to design the structural landscape forming the backbone of the development in the form of a 3km long forested ridge, whose practical function is to shield the new area from the noise of the adjacent M1 motorway.
Along with this feature, we created designs for two significant parks - including the Meadows Park, which also functions as a flood water retention basin.
This park contributed to sales interest in the newly built Meadows area and was shortlisted in the annual Sustain awards. Designs for the remaining public spaces have been warmly received by consultees and stakeholders.
